Give it a try to this healthy drink.
Enyzme of Apple, Lemon & Orange and Enyzme of Grapes & Orange
Ingredients :
4 oranges
2 lemons
2 apples
A bunch of grapes
1 packet of Brown Sugar in pieces
30 gm of Shan Za
Honey
Method :
1. Clean the fruits and drain to dry. Then cut the apple, lemon and orange into slices. Cut the grapes into half.
2. Stack the fruits and Shan Za into a glass jar according to sequence. Apple, Orange, Lemon and Grapes, Orange.
3. Cut the brown sugar into small pieces and arrange on top of the fruits. Lastly pour in the honey.
4. Seal it and keep in a cool dry place for about 2 weeks.
Note: Shan Zha is actually used to make the Haw Flakes. You can get Shan Zha from any Chinese Medical Hall.As for Brown Sugar in pieces, you can get from any of the Chinese Provision Store.
According to the book :
Shan Za - help to ease cardiovascular conditions such as congestive heart failure, coronory circulation problems, and hypertension.
Apple - help to defend cancer, beautify skin and it is good for heart.
Orange and Lemon - help to prevent constipation, beautify skin, and slimming.
Grape - help t0 supplement the blood, improve appetite, also it is good for children and women who has a weak body.
Apart from these, you can use banana, pineapple, kiwi, starfruit, dragon fruit, red dates, etc....
These 4 shots, little KPC Le-Ann snap it while I was arranging the fruits into the jar. She is not too bad, ya got a bit of my character. Hahaha....

Close tightly and leave it in a cool place



After day 20, the fruit enyzme is ready to drink. Yummy, yummy... but I still prefer th egrapes and orange enyzme, it taste more like a grape wine. The next round I am going to make banana and pineapple enyzme because it is good for moisturize and rejuvenating the skin.

Sue, I too just made 2 bottle of last month and is all ready to drink. I didn't put honey or Shan Za to it. Not sure if I can find Shan Za here. My sister is the who told me about this fruit enyzme.

:D this is a good one... normally in home we will make the red dates and apple but its a good idea to put in honey... but shan zha i am curious on where to get it in KL as normally my aunt in my hometown will pass it down to us!
Sue, I ever do before, after harvest, there is a layer of "thing"(similar to when left fruit juice on table for sometime, got a layer at the bottom), do your harvest enzyme also have?
wah, really spend a lot of time and patience for these hor.. looks edible but dont know abt the taste.

Wan & Singairishgirl : I think is the in thing now in M'sia. I heard from my aunts a lot of ppl pay money to learn how to make enyzme. Even the Chinese Cooking Books, I saw few of it also talking about enyzme.

Reminds me of 'hum sah lei sueh' made from pears fermented rotten and even maggots appear but aaahhh, the drink is so delicious.
