Tiramisu For Dad's Birthday

Dad's Chinese Birthday falls on tomorrow ( in chinese calendar 29th August ). We celebrated for him in Ah Mah's house yesterday since we have a stemboat 'makan' feast again to entertain one of my uncle from China.

Tiramisu came to my mind when I saw Wan blogged about her Tiramisu. Searched throught the web and most of the recipes required raw eggs in it and I am not so comfortable with egg in a cake which is not cook. End up I used Wan's recipe to make a Tiramisu Birthday Cake for my Dad.

I don't quite like Tiramisu thought but since Phatboy Joe and V told me they like Tiramisu that is why Tiramisu came into my mind. But it is not that cheap to buy the ingredients. Just the mascarpone cheese cost about RM17.90 per tub.

My Lovely Tiramisu Cake for Dad.

V saw the cake in the fridge and I told her I make it and she don't believe me and start asking me am I serious. Off course, I told her it is really make by me and I told her got pictures to prove that it is make by me. Even dad also asked the same question after his cake cutting session ' You make that cake ah'..... 'Yes la, Pa, I make one leh'

Hihihi... I think I can start taking order for my Tiramisu d. Hahaha... again my cake finished within 20 minutes and left 2 last pieces and Aunty Ah Choo 'tapau' for her son and DIL.

Little girl missed the cake cutting session cos she fall asleep and its rain heavily that afternoon and weather is a bit cold and windy. When she woke up, she kept crying that she want to cut the cake with 'KungKung'. What to do girl, who asked you don't want to sleep earlier with 'Didi'!

Ee-Thern's Birthday Celebration

Today we celebrated Ee-Thern's 2nd Birthday at Ah Mah's house. Ee-Thern's birthday fall on next Tuesday 25th September and we celebrated earlier together with mom's birthday at Ah Mah's place. For a change this round we had Asam Laksa instead of Steamboat. Since, the maid is no longer here, dad help me out to cook Asam Laksa. Luckily today the kids behave very well and they play themselves at Ah Mah's house without disturbing me. Mom help me to look after them and me and dad busy in the kitchen cooking Asam Laksa.

As usual I planned to bake 2 cakes for the birthday PoPo and birthday boy. Bake the cake on Friday night and yesterday night burned the midnight oil to decorate the birthday cakes. For Ee-Thern, I bake one Lemon Butter Cake decorated with fishes, coral, lobster and seahorse. For Mom, I bake one Moist Choco Cake and cut it into small pieces and layered around the cake and scoop one tub of Nestle Neopolitana Ice-Cream into it.

Here is Ee-Thern's Ocean Deep Sea Cake. Get this ideas from the M&M's website and uses all M&M's candies with buttercream icing to decorate the cake. Total taken 2 hours to decorate the whole cake.

I still think I am not good in decorating cake but this one certainly makes my Ee-Thern happy with it and the rest of my family members impressed with my decorating. Everyone in the house is happy and like the decorating ideas of the cakes. Not too bad isn't it ?

But after that, look at the amount of bowls waiting in the sink to be washed! If the maid is here, eveything will be chuck here for her to wash the next morning. But now cannot d leh.

I quite like the idea of making mom the ice cream cake. As easy as 1,2,3 and we have an ice-cream cake for her. At first I was thinking to get a some whipping cream and some strawberries to decorate mom's cake but end up I used the left over buttercream icing to decorate the cake.

This early morning, I also make some Angku Kueh with red bean filling back to Ah Mah's house. Will post the recipe later on how to make Angku Kueh.

This is for mom using the traditional Angku mould. The bottom one is the Hello Kitty Angku for Ee-Thern. I thought this would be the hit among the kids because it is a cute Hello Kitty Prince but end up no kids touch the Angku Kueh except for Le-Ann eaten 2 pieces of it. Kid nowadays really good life don't even eat Angku Kueh.

Pick some fresh mint leaves from my herb garden to use for Asam Laksa. Today I am too busy in the kitchen with dad, hence forgot to snap more pictures of the Asam Laksa that we cook today. This is dad's recipe ( his agak-agak recipe ) but it turned out real good. Wah so pedas and asam and most of all very sedap. Will post the recipe later.

Here comes the birthday boy, waiting for us to sing him the Birthday song and he can't wait to cut his cake.

The ice-cream cake is a hit and it finished within 15 minutes. Then the Lemon Butter Cake next. Both the cake is only 8 inch in diameter and is just nice for us. Nothing left, all zapped out and even the Asam Laksa finised.

My Ee-Thern boy after cutting his birthday cake, cabut lari and don't know where he play with his cousins. Mommy and Daddy didn't even have the chance to snap a family photo with him on his 2nd Birthday celebration.

Little girl Le-Ann after finish eating her cake and taking bath, started to ride the bicycle with Ei-Faye Ah Yi again, outside Ah Mah's house.

All in all, all of us are happy with today celebration and both my kids are looking forward to go back to Tai Mah's house every weekend.

To my Ee-Thern boy ... "Darling, you are one year older, Mommy & Daddy loves you so much. Be a good boy"

Merdeka Gathering

Organized a Merdeka gathering at my place and invited my 'ci mui' to come over for 'makan and minum' feast. Send out emails to all of them and to get confirmation whether they can make it or not. After few emails with them finally we fixed the date for the gathering on the Merdeka Eve since everyone is free but got to omit out Mic cos she is working.

We are having some sort of port luck gathering. Each of them help me to get drinks, dessert and we even have pizza. So, me as the host and organizer, make steamboat cos majority prefer steamboat rather than BBQ. Last year gathering we had BBQ. Prepare the steamboat soup base and make two types of base : Lat Thong and Tom Yam. Not going to elaborate much cos now very sleepy Zzzz. Hope the photos will tell what we are doing on this day. Few more hours to go we are going for a family outing again with mom & dad, sis, BIL and their kids.

Since I am working yesterday, hence some of the foods I prepared one day earlier.

As for the steamboat, we have 2 types of soup base. Either Tom Yum or 'Lat Thong' soup base.

Whip up a quick and fast Moist Choco Cake last night. Let it cool down in the oven and this evening I frost it with choco cream and decorate it with a cute Malaysian flag.

Marinade some chicken wings with the Mccormick Hickory BBQ Buffalo Wings. Marinated this yesterday night and start the baking pocess in the oven yesterday before the party start.

Make some 'Mango Jellies' in the late evening after work.

Fruits Punch added in a can of beer and a can of ice-cream soda. Wah so nice and refreshing.

The kids are having their own party too in the house.

All started with appetizer first. The adults having the 'Buffalo Wing' and the kids having their YAKULT.

All of us enjoying the ice-cream at home. My 'ci mui' after makan session, we chit chat and have some wine and keep talking till about 2 am. Wah all ' beh tahab liao'. All blur blur after the whisky and wine.

The 3 Musketers Birthday

Woke up at 6.15 am today and went to the wet market to get the fishballs and seafoods for today Steamboat Party at Ah Mah's house. Both Le-Ann and Ee-Thern woke up early today and after playing for about 2 hours outside the garden, I get both of them to take bath as we are going back early to Kajang today.

Both of them got excited and they will know that I am bringing them to ' Tai Ma' house today. After taking bath, they get ready to go while waiting for my maid to load all the food into my car.

Dad and Mom was early too. This is what I get at the wet market today. 2/3 of it are from me and another 1/3 from Mom. Emmm.. Mom bought a lot of my and my sis favourites steamboat items.... pork liver and pork kidney and 'si hum' @ cockles.

Dad's 'Wantan' is 1st Class. He make one whole big bowl of minced pork to make wantan filling.My little KPC helping 'Popo' to wrap the wantan and look at her wantan is so UGLY and 'Popo' half way wrapping, half way nagging her cos she keep playing with the wantan skin.


Look at these 2 big babies ( my cousin ) and my ah girl, attack the cupcakes before the party start.

My uncle make this Vietnamese Style 'Si Hum' Salad. So,so, so nice. If Dearie Suki see this he is going to nag me again eating so much of this cos he hate 'Si Hum'. I hate it everytime I share 'Char Kuey Teow' with him he will get the 'Char Kuey Teow' Uncle not to put 'Si Hum'. Aiyar... nice food also don't know how to enjoy. I remember when I was young, me and sis will buy 'Si Hum' and blanched it a while with hot boiling water and then 'kopek' the 'si hum' and dip it with chilli sauce. Aiyor ...so nice.

The steamboat party started at 2 pm and while taking pictures guess whose fingers is that ! Kacau me.

These 3 boys .... Do, Re, Mi.... 3 yrs old An-Son ( in orange shirt ), 2 yrs old my Ah Boy and 1 year old Ea-Son ( in red shirt ) playing in Ei-Faye's room and make a total mess in her room.

Blow cake session. A surprise for the 3 Musketers on the cake I bake for them. Although a bit ugly but they are happy with it. Ugly but adorable mah.

My KPC Ee-Thern stand in the middle as though is his birthday. My Le-Ann miss the cutting cake session cos she is asleep. Anyway the 3 kids are happy with their birthday cakes and they told me the cakes is yummy too.

What is this ? Dearie Suki came late to Ah Mah's house with a whole big box of roasted pig head and tail. He sponsored a whole roast pig for a temple today. I think they have a prayers at the temple. This is what he brought back. The 'Sifu' also gave him 2 angkus, 2 huat kueh, 1 apple, 1 orange and 2 red eggs. Luckily he is smart to bring it to Ah Mah's house if not how am I going to finish it. Thank god, Mom help me to allocate out the roast pork to my Aunts. Looks like we are going to have more 'Assam Chai' already.

Reach home and get my maid to clean the roast pork and you know what she did ? Already tell her to chop into 3 big pieces and she go and cut into small tiny pieces. Aiyar ... makes my flame burning. Thank god she is going back next month if not I will get HEART ATTACK !

Busy Saturday

I am pretty busy today. Woke up at 6.30 am today because my little princess wanted milk. Before I can go back and sleep my little prince woke up at 7.30am and ask for milk again. Arrgh.....

Start logging into net after I make the milk for Ee-Thern and make myself a cup of 'Aik Cheong Kopi O Kau' to wake myself up cos I have 3 birthday cakes to make today. Tomorrow we will be having a birthday party at Ah Mah's house to celebrate my nephew, niece and cousin birthday. All three were born in the month of August... oops left out one dear cousin now studying in Australia. So total 4 of them.

Started to bake at 8 am and makes 3 cakes at one go. Then took out the Mackeral Fish from the freezer to make fish paste. Then wrapped some Prawn Wantan for dinner as I am planning to cook Prawn Wantan Mee for tonight dinner. Cook lunch for the kids and steamed one Pomfret with Kikkoman Soya Sauce cos it is Le-Ann favourite fish. They have it with a big bowl of rice. By the time everthing is done it is already 12.30pm and the kids are ready to take their afternoon nap.

My 3 cakes left in, the kitchen is waiting to be frosted with icing and I just hoping the two kids faster sleep so that I can continue with the birthday cakes. The 3 kids at home thought I am a good baker. Walau eh... Ei-Faye my cousin sis, requested me to bake a Powerpuff girl cake for her. Then Gladys, my niece ask me to make a Winx Club cake and Nicholas, my nephew ask me for Naruto cake. Aiyoh.. I was scratching my head, all also so hard to do. Search through the net and get some ideas and finally make 2 Powerpuffs girl cakes and 1 Naruto logo cake. That's the best I can do kids. Really troublesome, next time I will go and ask them to get their Mummy to buy. Spend whole morning and afternoon in the kitchen just to make the birthday cakes.

Tomorrow morning got to wake up early to go to the wet market to help sis to buy some fishballs and seafoods for the steamboat party at Ah Mah's house. Dearie Suki started nagging me again and said " Eh Dear ah, why you so KEPOH ah, as though is your kids birthday". Come to think about it, ya hor, why I so KPC huh ? Hehehehe... going to get sis to buy me lunch for doing all these for her.

Chocolate Cake with Naruto Logo only for Nicholas. Won't be able to make the Naruto person cos needed very high skills. You though this 'YeeYee' so 'terror' meh.

Butter Cake with Powerpuff Girls -Bubble for Ei-Faye. Put in a lot of effort and time for this.

Lemon Butter Cake with Powerpuff Girls - Blossom for Gladys. Next time must get her Mummy buy Baskin Robbins Cake.

Hey, Leen I didn't miss you out leh. Sorry oh, can see but cannot eat. Anyway when you are back to Malaysia again will make some for you. Happy Birthday to you !
