Huge Hamburger For Lunch

I had a huge juicy and tender beef burger with beef bacon plus loads of french fries at TGIF. Die ! I am gaining more and more weight now. At times I really confused with myself. Happy I eat, sad also I eat. What is wrong with me? Anyway, whether I go to TGIF, Uncle Chilli's, Tony Roma or any cafe or restaurant for lunch, I tend to order burger. I love burger especially beef burger.
I have been trying to make my own beef burger patties but then it is quite hard to do it at home. Dearie Suki won't allowed any beef at home because we had a Kwan Yin Goddess at home. Maybe I should try with minced pork because my kids love burgers too. This week my schedule is full, maybe after CNY la, I will try to make some meat patties. Hahaha...

Donuts! Are You Nuts?

Last Thursday, I was having my usual trade visit with my sales reps and we were at Jusco in Sunway Pyramid. While waiting for the buyer to raise the PO, we walk around the shopping mall to kill our time. FL was telling me she wanted to get the donuts from J.Co and I asked her is it nice? I've tried the one from Big Apple for the 1st time last week at FC's house gathering. KV bought it from Big Apple at The Curve. When I was there I always wanted to get it but looking at the queue I just walked off.

Since FL wanted to buy, I also followed her to queue for it. Walau eh, guess how long we waited at the queue? A total of 45 mins just to get the stupid donuts ! I think I am nuts then. While waiting I told FL I only wanted 1/2 dozen cos only 2 of us eating. But after waited 45 mins of waiting, I changed my mind cos queueing so long just to get 1/2 dozen and I ended up getting 1 dozen since Dearie Suki haven't try it before.

1 dozen for RM17.50 and it is much more cheaper than Dunkin Donuts. I have chosen the Berry Heaven ( actually is Strawberry ), Green Tea, Banana Choco, Mango, Peanut Butter, the one with Almond Flakes, and White Choco. The one I like best is the Berry Heaven.

Yummy, donuts

Reach home with one big box of donuts and when my Dearie Suki saw it he shake his head and nagging me why get 1 dozen so much. My 2 kids don't touch at all and I don't know why they don't like it. End up both of us takes 2 days to finish up the donuts. Breakfast 2 donuts, after dinner 2 donuts and supper 2 donuts. Aiyor... I am going to gain more weight !

I am now waiting to try Krispy Kreme. Hope they open their outlet soon over here.

A Simple One

Last 2 days, reached home cooked a big pot of Fish Curry With Vegetables. When it is almost done, my handphone rang.

Me : Yes
Dearie Suki : Dear ah, I am not coming back home to eat.
Me : Huh, y leh.
Dearie Suki : I am eating with PK.
Me : Yer... y like dat one. Cannot call back earlier one meh so I don't need to rush back and cook. ( Very angry feel like cekik him )
Dearie Suki : Nvm la keep for tomorrow I eat everything for you.
Me : Hello, I cooked fish curry ah, got santan inside can keep so long meh.

I really don't understand him, if he can't get back home and eat why can't he call me earlier. If not I would bring the kids out to Alamanda, Putrajaya for McDonalds.

That night I had dinner alone with the kids. Not eating rice but make myself a piece of Roti Pratha, the frozen one from Kawan brand. I never like to buy frozen stuff but after reading some bloggers comments about this brand, I gave it a try. Result not bad woh, crispy and it is as nice as those selling from the Mamak stall. Must try.

Before I could enjoy my Roti Pratha, Le-Ann and Ee-Thern wallop the whole piece and left nothing for me. I got to take another piece, not one but two pieces from the fridge and heat it in a non-stick pan.

The next day, Dearie Suki is not back for dinner cos he has to helped one of his customer to put up the Christmas Deco in their cafe in Times Square. Me eating alone again and with the big pot of fish head curry.

I took some wholemeal pasta sample from office and boiled it. Pour the fish curry over the pasta and another simple dinner for me. I miss the 'Kon ( Dry ) Curry Mee' I used to eat in Glenmarie. After my office shifted to Subang Jaya, we hardly go back there and eat.

Here is my own version of 'Kon Curry Pasta'.

I don't really like the Wholemeal Pasta, taste yucks! I know it is a very healthy one but I just don't like the texture, rough and a bit hard and it is not to my liking. We tried the sample in the office and split into 2 groups..... one group is below 35 yrs old and another group is above 36 yrs old. The younger group give comments it taste sucks and the older one love it so much. So it is clearly stated this is targeted at the older age, health conscious and willing to pay for a higher price !

1st Attempt On Bread Making

Today I tried out my 1st attempt in bread making. I never wanted to learn how to bake a bread cos I hate eating bread. In the morning, I can't even force myself eating a slice of bread unless there is no other things to eat.

Dearie Suki has been bugging me for quite some time and asked me to learn how to bake a bread cos he is a bread lover and both the kids loves bread too. He even mentioned that he will get a breadmaker for me but I told him not to cos there is no space in the kitchen for the breadmaker. Anyway, how often will I use the breadmaker and I bet it will be end up, used once and chuck it at the side.

This morning started making the Hokkaido Milkly Loaf as early as 6.30 am while waiting for the part time maid to come. I followed the recipe from Happy Home Baker. Kneading the dough is a good exercise and I think I knead for 1/2 an hour using both my hands and now my hand sakit already. Really need 'Kung Fu' for the kneading part.

After kneading, the bread dough is leave to proof for 1 hour until the size of the dough doubled up. But for mine, it takes 2 hours. I don't know why mine need so long or maybe the weather in the morning is a bit cloudy and cold and not hot, therefore it needs a long time for proofing.

I divide the dough into 4 portions and rolled it up and arrange on a square baking tin cos I don't have a loaf tin. Brush the top with some milk and bake it in the oven for almost 50 minutes at 170 DC.

While baking, you can smell the nice bread aroma. Once done I can't wait to see how it looks like. To my surpise, the Hokkaido Milky Loaf turned out so nice. The top part is golden brown and shinning. The inside part is soft and fluffy and with a bit of sweetness ( I think this could be the whipping cream and the sugar in the recipe )

Dearie Suki woke up at about 11.30 am, came to the kitchen and asked me what I baked today. Obviously I am telling him, I am baking his favourite BREAD. After having his lunch, he can't wait to try a slice and after trying he is quite impressed with my 1st attempt. He was telling me a moment ago, he is going out to the 'Kopitiam' to buy a can of Kaya back to spread on the bread.

His next request to me is to make him a Hotdog Bun. Wah, I think from today onwards I fall in love making bread and going to search for recipes from the web. But , I still hate eating bread!

Kids, Lets Have Breakfast

Dearie Suki always wanted me to prepare breakfast for the kids at home but for me, I still prefer to eat with the kids at the Kopitiam and enjoy my cup of 'Kopi O'. You know why Dearie Suki want to eat at home ? .... So that he don't need to wake up so early and send us out to the Kopitiam.

Last Saturday makes some French Toast for the kids and fried some ham and bacon too for their breakfast. Dearie Suki loves french toast and me as well. It is easy to prepare too, you will need eggs, some milk, sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Coat the bread with egg mixture and pan fried in a non-stick pan with some oil till golden brown. Easy right ?

Yummy, french toast for the whole family.

This breakfast for the Big Baby at home who are still sleeping soundly in bed, Zzzzz. He woke up at 12 pm to have his breakfast! Did you realize the bread got one hole in the middle. It is actually a gingerbread man, I cut out with a cookie cutter for the kids. Balance of the unused egg mixture I pour into the whole and fried it under slow fire till the egg set.

This are for the kids. Cut the french toast with a gingerbread man cookie cutter. Some rolled ham and secure it with cute animal toothpicks and each of them have a bottle of Yakult.

Both Le-Ann and Ee-Thern before they have their breakfast they finished up their Yakult. So fast ah and I don't even know they have finished it until I came out from the kitchen. Little girl is a real meat eater, only attack the ham and pass the french toast to his brother.

Little boy, also another meat eater and he loves the ham so much. I think I got to quit my habit of going out to the Kopitiam for breakfast and have to prepare more breakfast for the kids and Dearie Suki during weekend looking at the way three of them enjoy the breakfast I prepare for them.

Roti 'Keap' With Kaya & Butter

While I was having my trade visit with my sales rep LJC to Rawang and Bukit Beruntung last Thursday, we stopped over tea at a kopitiam in Rawang. Suddenly I came across they are selling this Kaya (being packed in a recycled condensed milk's can) and the white bread and I think it is called the Hainanese Bread if I am not mistaken.

This makes me think back when I was a kid, my Ah Mah used to buy that kaya and the bread from the 'Ah Neh' who sells breads on a motorbike. Those were the day, we ( me,sis and my cousin) will spread the kaya and a lot of butter on the bread and we even dip the bread skin with 'Kopi O'. During that time where got Gardenia and High 5 bread! We only get to eat this and as time passed by, we hardly see this type of kaya and bread being sold.

I asked the 'taukeh soh' whether they sell the kaya and the bread and YES the sell that. I bought a can of kaya and a loaf of bread back home. So happy cos I missed this so much. LJC told me he called this 'Roti Keap' and my sales colleague ET, from Kuantan called this 'Roti Kahwin'. For me I called this 'Roti Bakar' but whatever izzit, it is still roti spread with kaya and butter.

For the past 2 days, we have been enjoying this and even the kids love it.
