Bangkok 2007 - Day 1

We took the first flight to Bangkok departing at 7.50 am. Oh gosh, both me and Dearie Suki only had about 2 hours of sleep then woke up at about 4.30 am. We left the house at about 5.15 am and we drove there and parked our car at the airport.

The LCC Terminal is so busy in the morning and jam packed with so many travellers. We got to queue for almost an hour to check in our luggage and the staff is so inefficient. What to do if you want to fly with cheap flight and thank god the there is no delay on the flight.

We slept all the way there and reach Bangkok at about 8.55 am. Weather in Bangkok is sunny and bright and it is real hot.
Bright and Sunny in Bangkok

Upon checking out, we stop by at a tour booking booth outside the airport to book for our tour. Dearie Suki got no idea where to go and he is the one in-charge to pay money. So I am the one to do all the bookings. We signed up for a half day tour in Bangkok and it is on promotion due to the King's Birthday on the 5th Dec'07. The half day Bangkok tour incuding to the Grand Palace only cost us 500 Baht. You will have a private car, private driver and a private tour guide to bring us a round but for the entrance fee we got to pay ourself so add up total tour is 1000 Baht.

So our itinerary for the day is to check in the hotel first then the tour guide will pick us up at about 11 am. We took a taxi to the hotel and upon reaching outside the hotel........

Dearie Suki : Dear ah, are u sure you booked this hotel. Why looks more like a 'Chicken Hut' to me.
Me : Yes lor hor, don't know la it is recommended by Aileen's Thai friend. Should be OK, kua.
Dearie Suki : How many star one?
Me : 3 star leh. But hor, I check from the internet those review by the travellers who stay this hotel mentioned good wor and furthermore it is convenient and there is a MRT station outside.
Dearie Suki : OK la, check in first. What to do you also booked already.

We checked into our room and there are rooms available and we don't need to wait till 2 pm. I have booked a STUDIO room at 1800 Baht per night inclusive of breakfast. When we opened up the room door, to our surprise the room is not too bad. Clean, complete wtih all the facilities and quite modern and I just love the wooden flooring instead of carpeted. The toilet is big but one thing about this room, it looks more like a room for mans doing their hanky panky stuff cos the room is gloomy but in another words quite romantic leh. hihihi....

The tour guide is so efficient, not even 10 minutes we checked into our room, he already called up our room saying he is waiting down stairs at the lobby.

We started our tour to the Grand Palace first and it was established in year 1782 and it houses not only the royal residence and throne halls but also a no. of government officers as well as a renowned Temple of the Emerald Buddha. A total area of 218,000 square feets and it is surrounded with 4 walls.

The building in the Grand Palace is divided in two structure. One is the modernaization building and the other half is the old Thai building sturucture and I think it is quite unique though.

Walking around the Grand Palace took us about 2 hours and with explanation from the friendly tour guide. After Grand Palace, he bring us around to show us Bangkok City and last stop is at a shop selling diamonds and stones. I am not quite interested in it but it is already included in the package.

That is the end of the tour and me and Dearie Suki quite happy with the tour and we booked our next day tour from this agency again. Day 2, it will be a full day tour to Damnern Saduak Floating Market, Crocodiles Farm and an Elephant Show. Total tour package is 3,000 Baht inclusive of a buffet lunch for two. Dearie Suki is not so keen to go to the floating market because the pick up time is 6.00 am in the morning. Knowing him he always wanted to sleep till late in the afternoon. So he go no choice but to follow me. Hahaha....

We get the tour guide to drop us at Siam Paragon as it is still early for both of us to go back to the hotel. Siam Paragon is a high end shopping mall with all the branded outlets like PRADA, GUCCI, ARMANI, etc...

We had our late lunch at the Food Court and the foods there is fantastic. Too many to choose and I don't even know what to eat. The food there is delicious but I still find most of the food there has a sweet base, maybe it could be Thai people has sweet tooth so whatever we ate is a bit sweet.

Clockwise from top : Assorted Fried Thai Fish Cakes/ Stuffed Crab Shell/Pork Sausages ( which cost us 230 Baht for that ), Fried Crispy Noodles Seafood in Thick Gravy Sauce, Thai Clear Noodle Soup with Fish Balls.

After our late lunch, we walked around in Siam Paragon and we went to the Gourmet Supermarket and shop around and see what interesting products they have on the shelves. Looking at shelves, I think Bangkok got more products than in KL. They have such a wide selection and makes both of us so tempted to buy and try.

Dearie Suki bought so many junk foods for the kids and I found a cute jelly moulds and a cute picks for only 10 Baht per packet of 2's.

The X'Mas decoration outside Siam Paragon is so beautiful. It was almost 7.30 pm and I wanted to go to Pratunam Market but Dearie Suki is too tired to walk there. End up we decided to take a taxi back to hotel first but.... Bangkok is such a place with a bad traffic jam. I was telling Dearie Suki, if we take a taxi back I don't think so we can reach in an hour time and the taxi fees could be quite expensive. End up we took BTS Skytrain from Siam Center to Asok station then change to MRT Underground train from Sukhumvit to Hwai Khwang station which is just 5 minutes walk from our hotel.

Eventually we didn't go back to our hotel first but we walked to Robinsons Shopping Center near our hotel. Walked around and they are having sales now and most of the stuff is quite cheap. Dearie Suki started to do his shopping and he bought a pair of shoes, a pair of Scholl slippers and a Guy Laroche sling bag.

On our way back, I 'tapau' the Cripsy Thai Pancake for supper and bought a McD Samurai Pork Burger for him to try. I told him this one must try cos you will never get to eat it in Malaysia.

It is a tiring day and we knock off quite early at about 11 pm cos the next day we got to wake up early for our tour to the Floating Market at about 6 am.

Back At Home Again

Just touch down from Bangkok about 2 hours ago and now back at home blogging but yet to upload my pictures. Will do it tomorrow. Read all the comments in my blog and I am surprised why everyone think I go there for project no.3?

No la, actually go there to source some potential products to sell on-line. But after this trip I think I better knock my head against the wall. Too many things I've seen and now don't know which one can sell here. I think better make another trip there again to visit those wholesalers I visited. Going to drag mom and sis to come along cos I think they are much more better than my Dearie Suki.

Sigh.... he ended up HAPPILY shopping there. PK was there last month and he told me got a lot of stuff to shop especially for ladies and he even told me Dearie Suki will be carrying the shopping bags for me. Aik... end up terbalik pulak, he is the that buy most things and I am the one got to take care of the shopping bags for him!

Till then... will blog about my trip soon with more pictures and funny stories of both of us. Going to Zzzzz now......

Weekend In Bangkok

Dearie Suki and me will away in Bangkok during the weekend and will be back next Monday,10th Dec'07. The kids overnight at babysitter place for 4 nights and he is kinda miss the kids already. I have been bugging him to go holiday with me and believe me or not this is the 2nd time we go travelling overseas together after 15 years with him. Every year it is either I go myself or with my 'ci mui' friends. Just now when we were having our 'Curry Pan Mee' for dinner at Bkt Serdang, I told him from next year onwards we must atleast plan a trip together.

Friends and fellow cousins were surprised why I suddenly plan a trip in such a short period and they kept thinking that I am going for project no.3 there..... hahaha .... MADE IN THAILAND ( blushing, blushing ). Aiyor, even Wen also think like that. Wah, if really want, need to go until so far meh.

Well,
1. 50 % for holiday and relax with him
2. 10% for project no.3. Hihihi.... if next month aunty didn't come, BINGO. Then this will be the greatest gift from GOD.
3. 40%..... this is interesting. Seriously for the past 2 years I have been travelling with an objectives to source something back and to materialize my dreams to start my own online business. But it has never happen. That is what I told Sammi, always go with objectives but reach the destination forget about the objectives and come back with bare hand. Hopefully this trip will materialize my dream.

Till then, do drop by my blog next week and will upload more pictures and will load myself and Dearie Suki with foods over there. Hahaha...

Sis, if you read my blog, remember to check my 2 little precious Le-Ann and Ee-Thern.

Do,Do, So,So,Fa,Fa,Re

Little Le-Ann has been attending the Music Kids Class from Yamaha Music School for almost 9 months now. Wow, so fast ya and last Monday her music teacher told us that they are going to 'Pit Giap' ( graduate ) in Dec'07 and will be having a mini concert on the 23rd Dec'07. The class started with 4 kids and now left 2 kids which is Le-Ann and Chien Chien ( older than Le-Ann 1 year ). So far, she have not miss any class before and I always rushed back form work every Monday to fetch her to attend all the classes.

In Jan'08, little girl will be attending the JMC, which is one step higher than Music Kids. Dearie Suki was telling me "Do you still want to enroll her in " . Off course, yes why want to stop where she has shown interest in the class. For him he think it is a waste of time and money cos he didn't see her sing or dance or practise it at home.

Last Monday, I had a bad headache and fell like vomitting the whole day. Called up Dearie Suki and get him to send her to class. From that day onwards, his point of view towards little girl learning music changed. When he got home, he told me she is so cute when she dance and sing.

Le-Ann's music teacher told him that we must get her to pronounced the words correctly. She has started singing :

Twinkle ,Twinkle, Little Star
replacing it with
Do,Do, So, So, Fa, Fa, Re
and she sing
Toh,Toh, So, So, Ha, Ha, Re

I just don't understand why she can't pronounced it correctly even my Ee-Thern can get it right. I am so worried now, should I bring her to consult the padeatrician or will she improved once she get into kindergarten next year?

Dearie Suki took this video from her lesson last Monday

4 Heavenly King

Hahaha... 4 Heavenly King. Aik... not the Hong Kong 4 Heavenly King singers ya, but it is a dishes and in Chinese it is called 'Sei Tai Tin Wong' and it consist of 4 types of beans or vegetables and cooked it with sambal.

What a name for it. I was puzzled one day when we went out for dinner with Aunty Rose. She was telling me lets order 'Sei Tai Tin Wong'. Huh, what is that and she told me it a vegetables dish. Oooo... now I know it is actually using 4 types of beans and one of it is my Dearie Suki favourite smelly Petai beans.

I planted a brinjal plant and after about 4 months, here come my pathetic short and skinny brinjal. The one and only from the tree. Cut it off and used it to cook this dish.

As long as the Ee-Thern's feeding spoon

Brinjal, Ladies Fingers, Petai and Long Beans

Those who want to try it out, here is the recipe.

Ingredients:
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chopped onion
2 tbsp dried prawns
1 cup petai
1 cup long beans, cut into 3 cm length
1 cup brinjals, cut into 3 cm length
1 cup ladies fingers, cut into 2 cm length
Some chilli paste & belacan powder
Salt & Sugar to taste

Method:
1.Blanched the long beans, brinjals and ladies fingers in hot water till soft. (The recipe require to deep fried the vegetables in hot oil for 1 minute but I blanched it with hot boiling water because deep fry will be very oily )
2. Heat 2 tbsp oil, deep fry petai for 1 minute then add in chopped onion and dried prawns. Sautee till fragrant.
3. Add in chilli paste and belacan powder and seasoning. Fry for another 2 minutes and mixed well.Dish up and serve with rice.

Here is my 4 Tai Tin Wong at home but hor my Dearie Suki gasak the Petai only and left the rest, all for me. Aarrrgh.....

Christmas Tree Is Up

Last Sunday, Dearie Suki took out the tree from the storeroom. After dinner, he and the 2 kids busy searching for the tree and both of them are making so much noises and helping Daddy to take the staircase.

We got this tree last year and this is the 2nd year we put it up. My in-laws and the entire family are Catholic except for Dearie Suki and me, we are Buddhist. Every year we will have Christmas Eve dinner at my in-laws place and it is kind of BORING for me. Maybe I just can't click with them. But for the kids, they are kind of excited cos got Christmas presents from Ah Mah, Ah Kong, Ku Cheh and Suk Suk.

Come back to the tree. Little Ee-Thern is not that interested with it but little Le-Ann is so excited and wanted to help Daddy out. Finally we get her to decorate the Christmas tree with the ornaments and she really decorate it and put up all the deco at the bottom except for the top part done by Dearie Suki.

Tadaa.......( clap, clap ) Bravo Le-Ann

Dearie Suki is so proud of her and look at her standing confidently next to the tree and let Daddy snap a picture of her with the decorated tree.

She is so CUTE

Ee-Thern not so keen to snap a picture with the tree cos he is holding a piece of cheese and waiting to eat the cheese. I think he must be thinking... Mommy & Daddy... 'mou lei kam hou hei'.

Yummy,Candy Floss

I was back at home yesterday at almost 10.30 pm and still so lazy to upload the photos I have taken during my business trip in Penang. This morning got to wake up so early to open the door for the part-time maid to come in and now I am just staring at the wall with nothing to do. ( Sigh )

3 of them still soundly asleep and I quickly take this time to do a post before both Le-Ann & Ee-Thern wake up. Dearie Suki taken a few photos of both of them while I was away in Penang. Guess what Daddy buy for little Le-Ann when he brought her to the night market in Sri Serdang? ...... A packet of yummy Candy Floss.

I remembered when I was a kid, I always followed Dad to the wet market in Kajang every Sunday and there is this old man with a motorbike selling Candy Floss. Dad will get me a packet without miss and I always looking forward Dad to come back on every Sunday.

Both my kids, haven't tasted Candy Floss before cos we never buy for them even when we saw it in the shopping mall or night market. Reason being I think it is quite bad for their teeth cos it is so sweet. But with Daddy, everything is OK and he will get it for her whenever both of them go out together. This is what happened last Friday. Little girl was pestering Dearie Suki that she wants the Candy Floss. Dearie Suki always give in, cos this small girl is always his 'pau pei'. Even when she wants a moon, I think he will take it down for her.

Looking at the pictures, I think she enjoyed it so much.

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy

Little boy, don't even want to eat after he tried a small bite of it. Maybe it could be the soft cottony feel makes him very 'geli' when he tried it. End up whole night with a 'black face' cos Daddy forget to get something for him.

Poor boy, end up got to sit down in the kitchen and see his 'cheh cheh' eating it only.

Yesterday night, little girl was telling me "Mommy, I want to eat ABC. Cold cold one" . I was like scratching head, and asked her who bring you to eat and she answered me "Daddy bring la". I could imagine now if I am away again, I think Dearie Suki will bring her to eat all those food that are not allowed by me.
