Marmite Chicken Wings

My office colleague, Polly also requested this recipe from me as she tried last week and complaint to me hers is too bitter. Well try my version of Marmite Chicken and to be frank I also agak-agak and there is no exact measurement. Pineapple Fried Rice in Egg Parcel

Both Le-Ann and Ee-Thern used to have porridge on every Saturday afternoon and it is quite boring to have porridge all the time. I have changed their lunch menu yesterday and decided to fried 'Pineapple Fried Rice' wrapped in egg parcel for both of them. Something different though and I think both of them like it. To make it more interesting I wrapped the fried rice in the omelet and draw a happy face with tomato ketchup.

2. Add in the chicken breast and a dash of paprika and stir fry till cook.
3. Then add in chopped french beans and pineapple and stir fry for another 1 minute.
4. Pour cooked rice over and continue stirring till well mixed.

Sago Pudding with Gula Melaka

I am not a dessert person cos I don't like sweet things. Usually if I make any dessert at home it will end up in my Ah Ma's house cos there are more people there to finish up my dessert. I make some Sago Pudding last Tuesday cos I found a container of sago and I think its been in the fridge for a year. So its better I do something with it.

Here is one of the easiest pudding with Gula Melaka.

Ingredients :
1 bowl of sago
1 piece of gula melaka
1 cup of water

Method :
1. Washed the sago with cold water. ( got to be gentle with the sago )
2. Boil the sago in hot boiling water for about 10 minutes and the turn off the fire and let it soaked in the hot water overnight. With this method you will get a crytal clear sago.
3. Rinse the sago with cold water.
4. Spoon the sago into small cup and let it cool in the fridge.
5. Once cool, turn the sago in the small cup into a dessert plate and drizzle with gula melaka. You can add some evaporated milk or coconut milk if you like.

To make the syrup :
1. Boil 1 cup of water.
2. Add in the gula melaka.
3. Let it boil till the gula melaka melted and become caramelised.

Fried Crispy & Fragrant Homemade Beancurd

Here is another recipe idea on how to utilize my homemade beancurd. It is a hits for my kids and dearie Suki and they love it so much and it is so yummy. This is another succesful recipe of mine and hubby Suki gives me both his thumbs up for this and request I make this again.

Usually when we go to the restaurant they will have this speciality fried bencurd and they called it ' Fried Crispy and Fragrant Beancurd' and here is my version :

Ingredients :
1 bowl of homemade beancurd
150gm fish paste
1 egg
2 tbsp crispy dried squids, chopped finely
1/2 cup of carrot, chopped finely
1 tsp salt and a dash of pepper
Cornflour for coating
Oil for deep frying

Method :
1. Mashed the beancurd till fine. Add in the remainig ingredients and mix until well combined.
2. Pour mixture into a greased tray and steam at medium for 20 minutes or until cooked.
3. Remove and leave to cool before cutting into small pieces.
4. Heat up oil for deep frying.
5. Coat beancurd in corn flour and deep fry till golden brown. Dish and drain off the excess oil.
6. Serve with Thai chilli sauce and mayonaise

Note :
1. You can add in some chopped coriander leaves but because of hubby Suki didn't like this smelly herbs I omit it out.
2. As for the crispy dried squids, I used 'tiu pin' and I BBQ it over the stove and chopped finely.

Homemade Beancurd with Oyster Sauce

I used half of my homemade beancurd to cook with oyster sauce. Here is the recipe for you to try out today.

Ingredients :

Homemade beancurd , cut into small pieces

Oil for deep frying

Some chopped garlic

1 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp light soya sauce

Dash of pepper and chicken stock granules

1 cup of water

Cornstarch for thickening

Method :

1. Deep-fry beancurd in hot oil until golden brown. Dish and drain in serving plate.

2. Heat up 1 tsp of oil and saute chopped garlic till fragrant. Add in water and the rest of the seasoning ingredients and cook for 2 minutes.

3. Thicken with cornflour and pour over the fried beancurd.

Note : You can add some sweet gourd if you want.

Homemade Beancurd

I have been doing quite a fair bit of cooking this few days due to the holidays and I have been exploring in how to make my own egg beancurd using soya bean milk. I used to buy the silken tofu packed in a square box almost every week from the supermarket. So I was telling hubby Suki why not I try to make my own beancurd which I think is more healthy cos it minus the preservative they added in the tofu.

Went to the wet market and bought one packet of soya bean milk ( without sugar ) and here I go to try out my own homemade beancurd at home.

What you need is :

Ingredients :

500ml soya bean milk

4 eggs , beaten

1/2 tsp salt

A dash of pepper and chicken stock granules

Method :
1. Combine all ingredients and mix well.

2. Pour mixture into a bowl.

3. Bring water to boil then lower the heat and steam for 10 minutes or until set. Remove and let it cool.

Note :

1. I am using my National Rice Cooker to steam the beancurd. My 1st attempt failed cos I steam too long ( about 15 minutes at high heat ) and the texture of the beancurd is not smooth.

2. My 2nd attempt I try to steam at low heat for about 8 minutes and let the mixture set in the rice cooker for another 2 minutes and the result is ----> smooth and silky beancurd.

3. Homemade beancurd can be used to prepare steamed beancurd with shallot oil or oyster sauce, or deep fry crispy and fragrant beancurd or you can use it for beancurd seafood soup.

Kou Kei Veg with Seafood Balls Soup

This is my another version of vegetables soup which is easy to prepare and does not require a long boiling time. It only takes about 30 minutes to prepare this hearty vegetable soup.

1 packet of seafood balls

300gm of kau kei vegetable, use only the green leaves for the soup

1 egg, lighty beaten

A dash of pepper and chicken stock granules.

Method :
1. Bring ikan bilis stock to boil.

2. Add in the seafood balls, salt , pepper and chicken stock granules and let it boil for 20 minutes.

4. Add in beaten egg and mixed well. Serve hot.

Another Family Outing

Dearie Suki suggest to bring the kids to Zoo Negara today since its a holiday. So we adjourned to the Zoo at about 11 am and by the time we reach there the parking at Zone A is already full. Then hubby Suki drive to Zone B and luckily there are still ample parking but the Zoo is already full with people and poor Suki got to line up for about 20 minutes to get the ticket.

The last time I go to this Zoo is when I was about 10 years old which means for 21 years I have not step into our Malaysia Zoo. It is not cheap though and the entrance fee for adult is RM15/person and for kid from 3 - 12 years old is RM6/person.

To tell the truth it is not worth it to go there. Most of the cage are empty and there are no animals in it and the aquarium centre is lousy. I told dearie Suki it is better we go to A'Famosa Safari or the Langkawi Underwater World are there are much more things to see than this Zoo.

We hang around for about 2 hours and didn't managed to round the whole Zoo. At last we hop into the 'cho cho train' and let the train bring us cruise around the Zoo. Thought of having KFC for lunch but search around the whole Zoo eh... no more KFC and I think bankrupt la cos I heard there is hardly any visitor during the normal weekday. At last we went to McDonalds for lunch when we are on our way back home.

Reach home and the two kids refuse to sleep and since the weather is so hot and I let the kids swim in their portable mini swimming pool in the house compound.

This Ee-Thern really enjoying himself and some more know how to use the float and float on top of the water and keep kicking his leg as though he very ' pandai' swimming. hihihihi..... same goes to Le-Ann and both of them swim almost about an hour until I got to pour away all the water and chase them into the house.

Looking at them makes me feel happy but at times they can make you go mad !

Family Outing

Yippie..... its holiday today!
Me and sis plan where to go and finally decided to go Broga, Semenyih for Ikan Bakar lunch. Early morning about 9 am, me and the kids head back to Ah Ma's house. We waited for sis till about 11 am to reach Ah Ma's house to start our journey.

All of us go except for the 2 heads of the family ... i mean my brother in-law and my dearie hubby didn't join us. So left me, sis, 4 kids, mom and dad in 2 separate cars. From Ah Ma's house, it takes about 45 minutes to reach that so called ' Fishing Pond Restaurant'. Wah.. can't imagine such a small town got so many tourists visit there.

Reach that restaurant and ordered our lunch while the kids running around and poor me got to keep an eye on them cos scared they fall into the fish pond. All the dishes are BBQ inlcuding the green veg. Luckily we are early, after about 10 minutes, wow so many cars came in. You see la so 'ulu' place also got people know. For those who love green scenery well this is a place to recommend and something different whereby you can't find in KL or PJ.

We ordered 2 BBQ Kam Foong fish, nyonya style and cheong cheng style. Then one BBQ Duck and BBQ Lamb and one veg also BBQ. 8 plates of rice and 5 cans of soft drinks and the bill came out to RM82.00. Ok la not too bad but talking about the food SO, SO only leh. You just pay for the green scenery environment.

Something special about here is that the BBQ dishes didn't serve with a plate, instead it is served with newspaper!!!??? First time I see this. Anyway, 9 of us finish up all the foods and drinks.

After lunch we passed by a temple and they usually called it ' Sek Nah Tok' temple whereby a lot of gamblers go there and ask for 4 digit no. Talking about it, this is my mom favourite place for 4 digit no. We stop over and go down and my 2 kids plus Nicholas and Gladys are so happy and excited.

I didn't managed to go to the hill top cos weather is so hot and me and Ee-Thern hang around at the shady area. Then this Le-Ann the busybody one want to follow her Ah Yee for 'cheng cheng'.

After that we adjourned home. Half way going out we saw this Rabbit Farm and we stop to see what they have in there.

Once reach there, the kids off course excited again cos seeing rabbit like 'jakun kids' only. Its not free and you got to buy ticket to go in. At first that man say RM50 for all of us and we say better not to go then suddenly got discount 50% and we pay RM25 and all of us go inside the farm.

Both Le-Ann and Ee-Thern really excited especially the small boy. Wah... Ee-Thern some more can shout at the rabbit and after awhile can chase the rabbit liao. Some more want to kick the rabbit. See la so naughty.

Le-Ann the scary head. At home so fierce but outside so scared. When she see the rabbit she u-turn and run away. Then Gladys and Nicholas as usual feeding the rabbit with food. But actually the whole farm is very smelly. Yuck!

The farm is surrounded with Durian trees but now is not in season so no durian to see. If I managed to find one tree with a durian I will definately show it to Le-Ann cos she is a durian lover. Everyday asking Daddy to buy durian. But Gladys found one small mini durian drop from the tree and asking me take a picture for her. The kids are so CUTE.......

Then we head back to Ah Ma's house again and on the way back Le-Ann and Ee-Thern is too tired and both of them Zzzzz in the car.
